Ministries

Altar Servers

Altar Servers assist the Priest at Mass.  This ministry is open to both boys and girls.

Because We Care

This ministry serves parishioners who occasionally need meals prepared for them.  This includes people who may be sick, have had surgery or just came home from the hospital, or other situations where preparing a hot meal is impossible, or nearly so.  Volunteers prepare and deliver one hot meal a day.   This is not a substitute for Meals on Wheels, but is designed to be a short term assistance to our parishioners.

Garden Project

In partnership with Fortuna Community Services, the Garden Project occupies land adjacent to the PAC and St. Joseph's Pantry Shelf.  Fresh vegetables are harvested all year and distributed to those in need through the Pantry Shelf and Fortuna Community Services.   This is an organic garden and anyone who likes to play in the dirt for a very worthwhile cause is invited to come join us.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim the Scriptures at each Mass.

Loleta Altar Society

Responsible for flowers and decorations for St. Patrick's Church in Loleta, the Altar Society encourages men and women interested in this ministry to join them.

Music Ministry

The music ministry assists in the worship of God through song.  Each of the music groups has openings and we encourage anyone with a good voice and a desire to serve God's people to join us.

St. Joseph Pantry Shelf

St. Joseph's Pantry Shelf has served the people of Fortuna for over 35 years.  A member of the Food Network of Humboldt County, the Pantry Shelf is open from 10-12 Monday, Wednesday and Friday for those on limited income who need assistance obtaining food.  We provide a limited supply of food using USDA commodities, food purchased from FEMA, donated food, and food purchased by the Parish.  We are always happy to have new volunteers who would like to be involved with this ministry.
